I’ve had my fair share of countless dungeon runs for specific drops and sometimes never ever getting what I run for, for example a decent wand upgrade for my Mage. However the other night Blizzard treat me well with not only the best night for item drops but one of the best Herioc runs I’ve ever done.
To kick start the love I ran Lost City of the Tol’vir specifically. When after particular items I prefer to run the dungeons I need then go random in hope to get them again if I didn’t get the item the first time. One of my rings was only 333 while the other was a rep vendor ring at 346, both still upgradeable. I came here to get my self the Veneficial Band but was happy when the Spirit Creeper Ring dropped from the first boss. Both decent upgrades, both dropping in the same run, and both going to ME!
On a high I then moved onto Halls of Origination where I had done a couple of runs in hope for Blood of Isiset as my one of my trinkets was still a green from quests and the other a decent 346 but DPS orientated. Whilst here though I was blessed not only a 200k+ tank who had took down all the current raid bosses and needed minimal healing but also a DPS group full of casters that pumped out a crazy amount of DPS and needed no upgrades. I was happy to get myself the herioc version of my current Soul Releaser as well as the Solar Wind Cloak both items I had forgot to put on my wish list. Needless to say after the times I’ve felt hard done by, this night of sheer love made it all worth it!
Last night the group I ended up running Lost City of the Tol’vir with had the most unfortunate luck with tanks. We wiped on the first group of mobs due to the tank having connection issues, and only just scraped through the second group before we decided to give him no more chances. Our next tank left after the first boss, third tank lost connection on the run up to mobs to the third boss and the forth tank left just as we were about to start Siamat as he didn’t get the drop he wanted from the boss before.
During all this we were quite fortunate the DK had a tanking off-spec which was enough for trash but without the gear we didn’t want to risk trying a boss.
After the lengthy run we thought we may aswell give Siamat a go otherwise we would just be standing around waiting. The fight began pretty smoothly however with the tank taking more damage than usual and with 1 less dps the adds spawning were beginning to take their tole on the rest of the group which stretched my healing and drained my mana pretty fast. Before phase 2 I had already become oom so with the druid’s innvervate on CD I wipped out my shadowfiend. This managed to squeeze me though to phase 2 where innvervate made its appearance. A few AoE heals and the group was topped backed up in time to nerf the boss to oblivion. Needless to say I pulled in quite an applause from the group which made this experience one of my most favourite healing times to date.
My Warcraft books came this morning from Amazon, not bad for super saver delivery from a late Tuesday night.
My Warcraft Books
The books include ‘The Shattering’ (what happened in the lead up to Cataclysm), ‘Arthus’ (the story behind how he came to be), ‘Rise of the Horde’ (self explanatory really) and Lord of the Clans (Thralls back-story). They are all the Warcraft books I could find by Christie Golden that interested me, I’ve heard nothing but good things about her writing after her big hit with ‘The Shattering’.
I wouldn’t class myself as a big lore buff, but I am interested in the lore behind World of Warcraft, enough to have read the lore on the website…twice. I just like getting a little more depth from the game. Its great to walk into somewhere and get that extra feeling of understanding. Hard to explain but erm… like when I run Old Hillsbrad Foothills and at the end you stumble across Tabatha. *SPOILER* When I read the lore I learnt about Thralls past love and how after escaping from Durnholde Keep Tabatha’s head was chopped off and thrown as his feet when he returned etc etc.*SPOILER* Like Turpser mentions on TheInstance, its nice when you come across characters or items and be like oh thats him/her/that thing from that time when that thing happened! (even though other players are like, mate it just looks like that other one over there =).
Recently I’ve started playing WoW alot again, I’ve never really shy’d away from it just haven’t played it enough to generate content for my blog. My mage has been shelved since I missed the first raiding boat after spending more time playing CSS competitively which is still my first choice in killing free time. However a couple of Saturdays ago my mate came round to keep me company 😉 and we both decided to dust off some old level 60s to dungeon queue together.
He tanked with his Night Elf Warrior while I began to get excited about healing, unfortunately the drive didn’t last long as healing can get verrrrry empty in lower dungeons. Never-less, after the night was up I still had a yearn to go back on. For a few hours each night I found myself running a dungeon or so for my little fix. Before I knew it I had hit 70 leaving my friend behind at 65. Things really began to start getting exciting with the need for constant attention if I wished to keep my group alive.
Other than my healer getting me re-addictive my girlfriend managed to convince me to start a goblin. We spent the best part of one afternoon levelling them up and out of the starting zone but there must be some sort of barrier with me and the horde as its another character to add to under level 15 and never played again pile.
Yeyyy I hit 85 last night. Just over a week since I started on Cataclysm, playing a little more than casual, completed on the coast of Uldum.
Didn’t get much chance to gear up afterwards due to my average iLvl being 319, 9 under the requirement for Heroics. I think next time I’m online I’ll make a start on Tol Barad dailies for the stone drake as well as finishing up the quests in Uldum and then make a start on Twighlight for hopefully better gear, all while sitting in random dungeon queues 😛 Got it all planned, just need the time 🙁 Well with Christmas almost upon us I’ve got just over a week off work so shouldn’t be a problem.
My last post predicted I would hit 85 before the week was up, well unfortunately I didn’t quite make it but I am very close. Its probably down to the fact I’m getting the loremaster achievements for every zone before I leave so I only just finished Deepholm in the last hour of so of my Saturday free-time then took a trip over to Uldum instead of Twighlight Highlands.
XP left til 85
I’m currently on level 84 and 6098358/9165100 XP, with 50/108 quests for Unearthing Uldum
. With no CSS matches planned for tonight I am sure I’ll hit that before bed with plenty of time to run some dungeons to gear up.
I’m kind of sad that I’m almost at 85 now I won’t have that objective to aim for anymore. However I know its just the start and I’ve got plenty of dungeons to complete, gear to obtain and will also be going for Loremaster of Cataclysm while I’m sitting in queues.
What can I say… Cataclym is cataclysmically awesome. I’ve loved every bit I’ve experienced so far (however all I’ve ever done is quest through zones).
My copy didn’t come on the Saturday like I had hoped, instead I went down and picked up another but didn’t manage to find the time to play til Sunday evening, and even then I was disrupted by 2 Counterstrike Source matches. Since then though pretty much every minute I’ve had available on my PC at home has been spent on WoW and I’m looking to be on track to hit 85 by the end of the week.
At 83 and 16 bars there isn’t far to go, with the whole of Saturday to myself I should manage the last stretch no problem. I’m currently questing in Deepholm which isn’t too difficult at 83. I’ve got the 2 loremaster quests from Mount Hyjal and Vashj’ir which I thoroughly enjoyed doing and would happily do it again on a second character. The new quests are so much more interesting and I’m loving the new zones and environments, especially Vashj’ir and the entry into the zone.
I’ve yet to find anything I don’t like about the new expansion, the zones, quests, items, everywhere flying is all just good stuff. I haven’t started trying to level my professions or managed any dungeons since you need to find the entrances first but I haven’t heard anything bad about anything yet (except unfortunately my girlfriend keeps getting disconnected every 5 minutes).
I know I haven’t posted on here in a long while, which is mainly due to the Cataclysm launch. Leading up to launch I didn’t have much to do in WoW and just ended up spending most of my time on Counterstrike Source and Battlefield Bad Company. Unfortunately on top of that I still haven’t received my copy from GAME. They mailed me last week to tell me it had been dispatched on the 2nd December, however I’m still waiting. I’m confused to how it isn’t hear yet and I’ve ordered 2 things through the Royal Mail on Monday and Tuesday which both arrived Wednesday and Thursday, yet my game is still in transit.
If it isn’t here by tomorrow morning I’ll be taking a trip down the high street to pick myself up a copy at a slightly higher price then return my copy from GAME to my local store… if it ever gets here.
In the mean time its just the waiting game. Don’t want to log in without being Cataclysm enabled as there won’t be any more to do than before the patch but look out for some continious updates once I get going again (and possibly move web servers, my current is free and takes too long to load during peak hours which is when I tend to have time to post).
I know its been a long time since I’ve updated, thats mainly been down the fault of the website not being my friend. I do most of my blog posts on my lunch break at work, however recently I got IP blocked by my webserver for incorrectly guessing my mail password. With WoW not being a big interest for me since patch 4.0 I was in no rush to get it fixed so just left it for the time being. Now I’m able to get access and have found it to be running smoother after setting up some plugins I’ll be getting back into the jist in the last stretch leading up to the Cataclysm.
Guess the first thing to talk about would be patch 4.0.3 which hit the EU yesterday. Its the lead up to patch 4.0.3a which will shatter the world as we know it. Not much was included in 4.0.3, guessing most of it was background stuff in preperation. However there was a couple of class changes, mainly healing buffs for priests and shamans and a litte bit of a nerf for DKs. Nothing effecting me so nothing to worry about.
With 4.0.3a in line for release next week and more than likely Deathwings visit to the world he has just shattered I will certainly be logging back on regulary. So far the only reason I’ve logged in was to grab Tipping the rifts on both Wizzam and Tynee, the phases have really interested me but Deathwing sure will. I also still need to get into gear and down the Lich King!
It’s been pretty quiet for me in World of Warcraft recently. With limited time I haven’t been able to take part in any raids, and I’ve got the best gear outside ICC after the Justice Point conversion so farming heriocs doesn’t get me anything but gems. However I eventually managed to get round to leveling a little bit on my Paladin. Well I say levelling, what I’ve really been doing is running 2 clients logged into 2 accounts both with RaF one on follow looting mobs as my girlfriend runs us countless times through Scholomance. I can safely say I am now sick of that place. After being ran through 58-60 on my DK and then again 45-60 on my Paladin, I don’t think I want to go back there for a loooong time. As a plus I did managed to farm stacks of runecloth higher than the eye can see, but that all went to my girlfriend to flog as payment for enduring the runs. We never saw the mount drop from Baron Rivendare which was a shame but at least its over for now.
After hitting 60 on both characters we hearthed back over to Ironforge where a couple of people were waiting for their rewards. Namely my priest Adlanna, my warlock Elipsis and druid Elryn who got the scraps. With them all boosted up with rewarded levels, my total character collection now consists of: 80 Mage, 80 Rogue, 61 Warrior, 60 Deathknight, 60 Paladin, 60 Priest, 60 Warlock and a 9 Druid. The druid will probably end up getting deleted and re-rolled in Cataclysm, but for now she can sit their as a name holder.
Now I’ve managed to get my characters up I have a plethora of work to do with all the extra options. Tynee has been shelved til I get round to level 85 PvP and Wizzam is just waiting on time to raid / level to 85. Now I have my priest up I’ll get to work on leveling her Tailoring to provide some cheaper bags for my characters, may not level her til after Cataclysm though. Rommli, my paladin is going to become my farmer. With the extra mount speed I’ll get to work on leveling his mining and herblism before taking him through Outland. I want to get him leveled up as much as possible before Cataclysm as he’s the only non-squishy character I’ve rolled and want him strong enough to help out friends for all the help they’ve given me over the years. Unfortunately that means a majority of this blog will now be filled with his progress, which isn’t very squishy, but 1 out of 5 main characters, its still a squishy based blog 😛
